About
At most multiple instructor workshops, the teachers only talk with each other for a few minutes about what they are going to teach. So most of the time the material doesn’t build off of each other as well as it could. For each SwingerG workshop, the teachers (Ali, Katja, & Andrew) spend 5 days together creating the schedule of classes. When creating the schedule they ask themselves, “If we had all the time in the world, what would we want to teach?” By the end of this brainstorm, they always have enough information to teach many many workshops. Instead of picking a few ideas and teaching those, they try to create a schedule that includes everything. How is this possible? Synergy! After 5 days of combining ideas and rearranging the conventional ways of taking/teaching classes, a single day of their schedule has included Andrew’s Warm up Medley, the Variety Show, the California Routine, Musicality, Ninja Rhythm, Big Apple Jazz Movement, Layers of Leading, Beauty of Doing Nothing, Superman Dancing, and Aha’s (and that was just for one of the days)! They taught this workshop in Berlin in 2007 and it was one of their favorite and most effective workshops they have taught at. They are so glad to be bringing it back and hope you have the chance to experience it.
SwingerG = The interaction of two or more dance teachers so that their combined knowledge is greater than the sum of their individual knowledge. (like synergy:-)
